DO NOT DISTURB
Experience the graveyard quiet of a Gothic Chapel, built in 1812 and now tastefully renovated as Derbyshire's smallest bed and breakfast.
Part of The Old Lock Up at Wirksworth, this near 200-year old building is listed for preservation by the Department of National Heritage, keeping for posterity the Gothic Style detail of the 19th century Baptist Cemetery.

Set back from the road among the aged headstones that trace many of Wirksworth's pioneer families, the Chapel, has taken on a new lease of life, faithfully restored in outward appearance and dignity, looking as it would when it served those early worshippers.

Lancet cast iron windows front and back using original glass and coloured panels, dwell on stunning views of the Derbyshire countryside. The exposed lintel over the studded entrance door is a cruck beam taken from an Elizabethan cottage.

Thus the legacy of the past lives on

Furnished with a beautiful antique bed, dressed in percale linen, providing luxurious comfort and a night to remember, this hotel in miniature has a bathroom with both shower and bath, colour TV and radio, together with fridge and tea/coffee making facilities.
The romance that is the Old Lock Up means that a couple booking this unique hideaway can have breakfast in the main dining room, using their own private path and gate.
Wirksworth as a town is a story of buildings and a Community rescued in fabric and faith for future generations
This tiny chapel is but another chapter
